Thursday after class, I met with Dongseok at the Circle K across the street. He had brought a girl from CIES that I had talked to before. I was delighted to find that the two were now dating. CIES bringing people together in more ways than one! Dongseok is South Korean and his girlfriend is Chinese. She was waiting for her conversation partner so she joined us in our session for a little bit. Dongseok's grammar and writing is very on point as I've said before. He wants to improve his speech, and he does this best through having normal conversations. Throughout our conversations he will take notes and write down American expressions that he wants to use later. We talked a lot about his life in South Korea and I learned about his required service to the South Korean Air Force. He doesn't like the fact that his academics were set back two years because of his service. I am sure Dongseok will more than make up for lost time because of how much determination and effort he puts into his English studies and academics in general.
