Tuesday I met with Areum once again at CIES for tea time. This time because Areum didn’t have a piece of paper in front of her telling her what questions to ask and sparking further conversation, our conversation went a lot slower, though it was still easy and comfortable. We talked a little bit about guys and our types, and the differences between Asian and American guys, after she teased two CIES students who are dating each other. We also discussed movies a little bit. Areum told me how she had gone to SLC to see a movie recently and enjoyed it. She also told me again how she wants to learn more idioms, as she used one in class and got positive attention for it. We talked a little bit with her younger Korean friend, as well. Our conversation didn’t have much direction and was pretty easy going; nothing really stood out to me as especially significant. The one hour time we spend together at CIES is really rather short by the time we get into any sort of conversation. I think next time I’ll try to invite her to go out somewhere and do something with me on a different day when I don’t have class. I think taking her somewhere to shop or eat would be more fun and interesting for both of us.
