Jung- CO 1

On Wednesday afternoon, I went to class observation in Mrs. Olga’s speaking class. I actually have done class observations before for my introduction of education class during my first semester in college. The only difference from last class observation was that this class was filled with foreign students who are here to improve their English skills. Mrs. Olga and her students were doing their presentation on the topics that students picked from students suggested topics. I didn’t realize when the class had begun because there was no introduction of what they were going to do. When students were having problems with pronouncing any words during their presentation, she helped them to pronounce it with them. Some students were talking to each other in their native languages often, she pointed out that they should speak in English. At the end of each presentation, she asked students what they thought about the topic and asked students if they had any questions. She wrapped up her class by asking students who is going to present tomorrow and if any of them were having a problem, she asked them to stay after class so she could talk to them. It was a pretty interesting class observation, because I was expecting to learn how a teacher would go over the material and teach them how to prepare for their presentation but I saw how Mrs. Olga used this presentation to let students talk about their feelings and thoughts either through presenting the topic, asking questions, or discussing it with them.
